TIPS FOR A GROWING GARDEN
The plants are all nestled and snug in their beds. You’ve done all the hard work. So now what’s next on the garden agenda? A lot will depend on which zone you live in and the weather patterns you happen to be in. Another variable are the plants you have planted. Some zones will require less watering than others. The general rule of thumb is to just watch your plants for telltale signs of thirst. Wilting is a DEAD give away however, and we don’t want to wait till that happens. I use an old but reliable method by just sticking my finger down into the topsoil to see how much resistance I get. I know the soil needs water if I can’t get to my second knuckle. Water deep to promote strong roots and then wait a day or so. If the weather is exceptionally dry and hot you may need to water every day. This again depends on your plants.
